Much of the Taonga Māori Collection is available for viewing. Videos are available for on-site viewing at the Archive Reference Libraries in Wellington and Auckland, and at Vaccess sites throughout New Zealand.

A small number of items are currently unavailable for preservation reasons, or at the request of Iwi or the depositors. For material within the collection where formal Iwi permission procedures have not yet been developed, permission is sought through informal links to that particular Iwi.

For commercial access, such as film festivals and special screenings, the normal clearances for copyright, donor rights and cultural copyright apply.
