A special screening of film clips depicting life in Aro Valley, 1955-2009, Aro Valley – History on Screen will be a delight to anyone interested in the history of Aro Valley and Wellington.
With images of Wellington pre-1920 and the early footage of Te Aro School celebrating it’s Centennial in 1955 (filmed on 9.5mm), the motorway extension, the former Bar Bodega, and the making of Te Aro Park drawn from news items and documentaries. Sequences of Mickey Mouse Motors in Goodbye Pork Pie, sequences of Blerta - the 1970s film and music collective - excerpts from features, shorts, and documentaries will be shown along with interviews from the people who made them.
