Homegrown

A 75 minute sampler of New Zealand music. Homegrown introduces young listeners to different musical styles and instruments, and shows how different musical groups play together. The music ranges from the commercial to the experimental and features many kiwi classics. 60’s pop with Ray Columbus and the Invaders and The Chicks; DJ turntablist DJ P-Money; electronic artists Pitch Black; classical sounds with Kiri Te Kanawa and Classical Polynesia; jazz with Mike Nock; the Pacific sounds of Te Kupu, Emma Paki, Herbs, Che Fu and King Kapisi; radical percussion group From Scratch; the Hamilton County Bluegrass Band; Split Enz, Mother Goose, The Clean, Suburban Reptiles and The Swingers and more.

Ready, Steady, Go!

The movers and shakers of early Rock ‘n Roll in New Zealand strut their stuff against a backdrop of mini skirts and mods. Featuring Ray Columbus and the Invaders, The Chicks, The Avengers, Larry’s Rebels, La De Dah’s, Mr Lee Grant, The Gremlins. Plus! psychedela.
