Describe the main events and experiences of people in 1960s New Zealand
Teaching / Learning Sequence
- Start with a brainstorm/ prior knowledge activity, about the 1960s in general, and New Zealand in the 1960s
- Outline and explain focusing questions. Students note these into their books. Explain that these are the questions they must aim to answer by the end of the unit.
- View footage: “Significant Events”: Enduring Land. Students create a mind map of the significant events in NZ history mentioned in the documentary.
- Compare this new knowledge to their brainstorm. What new things have they discovered?
