Within each lesson students are checking their understanding of messages with peers and with the teacher.

Within the module a formative production task is included to measure the students’ use of technology. This task can also be used to formatively measure their understanding of representation through imitation and challenge of these the values and messages behind these representations.

Students are also given the opportunity to watch finished products and reflect on the representations of other students.

Formative assessment is also given for 2.3 in the form of examination type questions which can be done out of class. This will help to consolidate class learning and give students feedback for school or external examinations.

Self/peer/class

Students evaluate each other’s Thumbnail Task. Within their reflection they are asked to evaluate whether their storyboard shows understanding of how representation is created and the values and messages representations convey.

Students assess own montage Challenging the Image – Self-Assessment . to justify their production and evaluate their own success (useful in other areas of the Level 2 course).
