and Demonstrate knowledge of tourist destinations within New Zealand Level 2 Credit 2 (Unit 18236 version 1)

Context
This unit covers Destination New Zealand over two DVDs. These DVDs focus on the New Zealand tourism industry with footage of political leaders, the media, various New Zealand communities, planners, and developers regarding New Zealand’s tourism development.
The unit focuses on the wide-ranging and often conflicting viewpoints held about New Zealand’s tourism development, and how those viewpoints have shaped its development.
The unit relates directly to the Level Three and Two topic, Destination New Zealand.
It will also strengthen students’ general awareness of the often divergent perspectives held by the groups mentioned (not formally examined for this topic at Level Three and Two).
Note: the powerpoint resource attached to this unit could be used in these ways: as a prior knowledge indicator (how much do I know about Destination New Zealand?); as a reference tool during the unit; and as a summary exercise. Check lesson 20 for an outline of the powerpoint.
