Lesson 12: Air & Land Transport Travel Times

Element 1 (Unit Standard 18212) and Element 2 (Unit Standard 18236): Both Air and Land transport times are identified in terms of travelling times between cities.

Learning intentions students are learning to…

  • Calculate the air and land travel times between New Zealand cities.

Success criteria (How do students know they have achieved success?)

  • Students are able to clearly locate and calculate the correct air and land travelling times between cities.

Activities

  • Students will each receive the Air travel time chart, and land travel time/distance charts.
  • Students will be provided with a travelling time chart.
  • Students will use both the air and land time/distance charts to successfully fill in the travelling time chart.
  • Compare this new knowledge to their prior knowledge of New Zealand. What new things have they discovered?
