- Materials extension: Students could sew, dress with existing clothing items or create part clothes from existing clothes. Again this could be incorporated into the concept and change the context of the installation.
- Students could invite someone to participate, as Davies has, rather than use them selves and work collaboratively with that person.
- Students could consider what the person is wearing and extend that into a range of interchangeable ‘costumes’ or ‘personas’ for that person
- Students could subvert the notion of the portrait by portraying themselves or someone else as an alter-ego or counter-stereotype
