Activities

Story boarding
Teacher explains that we are expanding our understanding of mise en scene to include camera movement/ movement within the shot/ acting style and special effects - aspects of moving picture. That we are going to also start thinking about sound: dialogue, sound effects and music.

Teacher briefly explains how to complete a story board: drawing a sketch in the box and director notes underneath outlining mise en scene and soundtrack.

Students watch Doc Marten’s Ad on Tattoo’s, paying attention to mise en scene and Soundtrack and jotting down directors notes.

Students draft the story board.

Discussion
Re-watch the ad with the class and discuss their director’s notes.

Homework
Students complete the story board.
