- Students are able to clearly communicate geographical ideas in an organised and coherent manner by comparing and contrasting Auckland – Urban Settlement, with their overseas urban settlement.
Activities
- Students will re-cap previous lesson work.
- Teacher will provide example of the overseas urban settlement (for example, Singapore, New York City, or London).
- Students will use maps of Auckland, and their overseas urban settlement to identify social, economic, structural patterns of both urban settlements. Refer to Lesson 6 for Auckland patterns.
- Compare and contrast the maps. This should comprise of a Chart note by dividing a students page/A3 paper in half, i.e. “Auckland/Overseas Urban Settlement”. The chart should be divided into social, economic, structural patterns.
- Compare the chart. What new things have they discovered?
