Activities
- Students will re-cap previous TWO lessons work.
- Discuss and define the key words: Urban, and Settlement.
- Class discussion on the following question: “What is Auckland and why does it exit?” Students write down the discussion main points.
- View Footage: “Expanding Auckland”, and “This Auckland”
- Compare and contrast the images presented in the footage. This should comprise of a Venn Diagram note by dividing a students page/A3 paper in half, i.e. “Today/1960s”
- Students to be given ‘Urban Settlement Overview’ handout to be glued into their books.
- Students to be given ‘Why is Auckland such a large city?’ handout to be glued into their books.
- Compare this new knowledge to their prior knowledge of Auckland. What new things have they discovered?
