Activities

  • Students will re-cap previous lesson work.
  • Then write on board/whiteboard the introduction the next series of footage items (below). Students must choose one footage item to focus on, and take notes about it while viewing. Discuss what “taking notes” means here, and give students some focusing questions (for example: Who? Where? Why?)
  • View Footage: “ JAFAs” and “Mayor John Banks on Auckland/Aucklanders”
  • Discussion questions: What were people’s perspectives-viewpoints on Auckland/Aucklanders? Why did they have those perspectives-viewpoints? What is your perspectives-viewpoints on Auckland/Aucklanders? Why?
  • Compare this new knowledge to their prior knowledge. What new things have they discovered?
