New Zealand Film: Online Resources
Context
This unit has been developed to support the publication
New Zealand Film: An Illustrated History and the associated
DVD material. While it has been written primarily for Media
Studies students it could also be used to support the English Curriculum.
Outline
These resources follow the chronological development of a film culture in New Zealand beginning in 1895 and ending in 2010. Students are introduced to rarely seen footage and associated documentation from the Film Archive’s Jonathan Dennis Library.
They are asked to close read these resources and to begin to put the examples into some historical and social context.
