Peliculas de Espana

The Embassy of Spain, together with the Film Archive is proud to present Movies from the Antipodes – 4 películas de España.

This retrospective demonstrates the diverse, innovative and provocative way in which Spanish cinema has evolved over the last fifty years.

Each film was carefully selected in order to provide the audience with a holistic impression of Spanish film and includes works by outstanding Spanish directors such as Pedro Almodóvar, Luis Berlanga and Luis Buñuel.

This event has been made possible due to the co-operation of the Spanish Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) and the Australian Cinémathèque (Brisbane Gallery of Modern Arts - GOMA).

We hope that this will be an opportunity for film enthusiasts and novices alike to share in the fascinating world of Spanish cinema and experience a part of our diverse cultural heritage.

Each of the four films in the selection will screen twice:
